MFEST 2018

17 May

The Foundation, in association with DeepMind supported the inaugural MFest Festival of Muslim Cultures and Ideas, which took place between 27-29 April at the British Library. The three-day festival hosted workshops and performances covering comedy, poetry, music and literature; and hosted discussions on identity, race and politics. Highlights from the festival include: a panel chaired by journalist Remona Aly including Sabeena Akhtar, Myriam Francois and Hodan Yusuf on Evolving Feminisms; a special live discussion on pop culture from the highly regarded Mostly Lit podcast team; and a discussion on The Future of Muslim Activism with Asim Qureshi, Hareem Gani, Narzanin Massoumi and Malia Bouattia.

The Foundation also had an opportunity to hold a dedicated session where we could talk about the Foundation’s work and our grant application process.
The festival garnered a great reception, with the themes explored triggering some great discussions online.

We at the Foundation look forward to MFest 2019!
