Aziz Foundation hosts inaugural eid celebration
04 April 2025

Last night, we had the privilege of hosting our inaugural Eid Celebration, beautifully led by our trustee, Rahima Aziz BEM, at One Princes Street in the heart of the City of London – a landmark location recently acquired by Criterion Capital to be transformed into Criterion Hospitality's innovative Zedwell Hotels concept. This gathering was not just a celebration of Eid, but also a tribute to ten years of impact – a decade of postgraduate scholarships, transformative internships, and meaningful grants across the arts, sports, journalism, policy, and community sectors.
The evening was filled with inspiration, gratitude, and togetherness. We were deeply moved by the speeches from three incredible Aziz Foundation scholars:
✨ Ibrahim Mohammed – Multi-award-winning education influencer and trainee solicitor.
✨ Rakaya Fetuga – Award-winning poet and writer, using her voice to celebrate identity, faith, and social justice.
✨ Furvah Syed – Passionate journalist, amplifying unheard voices and reshaping narratives in the media.
Their stories were a testament to the transformative power of education and opportunity.
We were also honoured to be led in prayer and reflection by Imam Hassen Rasool, whose words on the significance of Eid reminded us of the values of interfaith harmony and community.
This celebration was set against the backdrop of our ramadanlightslondon.com programme , an initiative that has once again illuminated Coventry Street in the West End – symbolising unity and inclusion. Seeing London shine for Ramadan and Eid (our ‘Happy Eid’ lights are now up until the end of this week!) is a powerful reminder of the city’s rich diversity.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, from stakeholders to university partners – your presence made the evening so special. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to another decade of fostering opportunity, empowering communities, and driving meaningful change.
