Haniyyah Anwar

I am an actor, writer, and improviser passionate about performance and storytelling. I really want to see more Muslim experiences on screen and in theatre that present a fuller and nuanced view of our experiences. I would love to contribute to seeing more Muslim joy, friendship and community in the stories we see.

For me, acting and drama are also powerful tools for self-discovery and connection, helping us better understand ourselves and the world around us. Alongside my own practice, I run workshops for adults and children, using performance skills to build confidence, creativity, and community.

I am honoured to be receiving a scholarship to study an MA in Acting at East15 drama school. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to professionalise my acting skills and hopefully allow me to be a changemaker in the industry.
