Growing up in a Muslim household and receiving a religious education sparked my interest in questions of faith, ethics and belief, leading me to read Theology & Religion at the University of Oxford. As my studies progressed, I became increasingly interested in the relationship between religion, morality and the law, culminating in my dissertation, 'Is the Pentateuchal Law Regarding Murder and Manslaughter Compatible With the Concept of Justice?’
My aim is to practice as a barrister, and the Aziz Foundation LLM Scholarship will enable me to undertake the Bar Practice Course, the final vocational stage of qualifying as a barrister in England and Wales. In obtaining this qualification, I hope to advance access to justice and serve diverse communities.
