MA DOCUMENTARY, PHOTOJOURNALISM AND GLOBAL JUSTICE, SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
I am a London-based photographer, videographer and digital content creator, with a background in humanitarian communications and community advocacy.
Through the MA in Documentary Photojournalism and Global Justice at SOAS, and under the mentorship of Shahidul Alam and the practitioners at Pathshala, I hope to develop the critical framework and skill to move from amplifying other people’s photojournalism to creating my own.
My ambition is to become a documentary photojournalist working at the intersection of identity, heritage and global justice - building a visual archive of the elderly British Muslim generation, whose stories, craft traditions and memories are at risk of disappearing entirely. I aim to produce long-form work that gives our communities the dignity of being seen on our own terms.
I want to show the generation of young Muslim women who come after me that there is space for us behind the camera, not just in front of it.
