Fatima Maye

Working in an arts library has shown me the important role librarians play in determining what knowledge is preserved, discovered, and shared. Looking at whose voices and histories are represented in the arts, as well as whose stories may have been overlooked, has highlighted for me the importance of decolonising our collections.

Through an MA in Library and Information Services Management, I hope to become a librarian who can contribute to collection curation in a critical and thoughtful way. I want to help create spaces that centre and care for artists who are currently underrepresented, so that their histories, perspectives, and experiences can be discovered and valued on our library shelves.
