MA INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISM, CITY UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Throughout my time as a journalist, I have worked hard to bridge the two identities of being British and Muslim to combat the issues in our community. I have done this by reporting on many diverse stories such as the Turkey earthquake, the Palestine conflict and also Britain’s earliest converts in the Victorian era.

Being a Muslim journalist in the 21st Century has proven to be difficult many times over. While studying my undergraduate degree, I realised the desperate need for more diverse journalists to ensure fair reporting. By studying a master’s in international journalism, I will be equipped with the skills necessary to change perceptions from inside the newsroom. At City University, I will gain the power to change certain areas of journalism for the better.
