Aziz Foundation visit University of Essex campus
23 November 2021
In late November the Aziz Foundation had the pleasure of visiting the University of Essex’s campus in Colchester. The institution is one of the Foundation’s preferred partners and the visit provided the team with an opportunity to meet with a cross-section of university stakeholders.
During the visit – organised by the Senior Philanthropy Officer, Mark Williams – the team met with:
- Waleed Babar, President of the Islamic Society (Isoc)
- Dorothy Akuamoa, VP Student Welfare, Essex SU
- Shirley Dow, Inclusion Officer, Student Support Services
- Elaine Brown, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Director
- Kay Hall, Faith and Community Manager
- Dr Neli Demireva, Senior Lecturer in Sociology
Foundation staff were given a tour of the chaplaincy facilities and heard of the student support and welfare services available to support BME students. There was also an opportunity to discuss the institution’s EDI strategy and attend a reception for Essex scholars.
The Foundation is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the institution on areas of shared interest. For more on the University of Essex, please see its institutional profile and our EDI index.
