Aziz Foundation visit University of Law campus
11 November 2021
In mid November, the Aziz Foundation was invited to visit the University of Law’s campus on Store Street, Bloomsbury. The institution is one of the Foundation’s preferred partners and the visit provided the team with an opportunity to meet with a cross-section of university stakeholders.
During the visit – organised by the Director of EDI, Patrick Johnson – the team met with:
- Sandie Gaines, Dean of Norwich & Bloomsbury campuses
- Sarah Corbitt-Batson, Associate Dean of Bloomsbury Campus
- Farhana Begum, Senior Tutor in Family Law
- Fatmata Daramy, Widening Participation Coordinator
- Keith Dye, Director of Student Services and Career Development
- John Watkins, Director of Employability
- Mohammed Ilyas, BME advocate and alumnus
- Hanane Mohamed, Aziz Scholar
During the visit, Foundation staff were given a tour of campus facilities, including of the library services and lecturer theatres. The team also heard of the vital work being carried out through the BME advocates scheme at the university, as well as efforts to develop a widening participation programme. There was also an opportunity to speak to Muslim students – including a current Aziz Foundation scholar – about the student experience on campus.
The Foundation is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the institution on areas of shared interest. For more on the University of Law, please see its institutional profile and our EDI index.
