The Aziz Foundation have recently undertaken a visit to the University of Warwick’s campus in Coventry. The institution is one of the Foundation’s preferred partners and the visit provided the team with an opportunity to meet with a cross-section of university stakeholders.

During the visit – organised by Head of Trusts and Foundations, Emma Griffiths – the team met with:

  • Kulbir Shergill, Director of Social Inclusion
  • Chris Ennew, Provost
  • Imaan Rehman, Student Ambassador and Law student
  • Islamic Society representatives
  • Sharifah Sekalala, Law Professor and Director of EDI Champions
  • Dr Abdullah Sahin, Reader in Education Studies
  • Dr Amjal Hussain, Assistant Professor of Sociology

Foundation staff were given an overview of the university’s Social Inclusion strategy and how it incorporates the views of communities of faith on campus.  Furthermore, the team heard of the important interventions established on campus –  such as EDI champions programme currently run within the Law School. There was also a tour of campus, including an inspection of the extensive prayer hall, facilities and chaplaincy services in place for Muslim students.

The Foundation is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the institution on areas of shared interest. For more on the University of Warwick, please see its institutional profile and our EDI index.
