Layla Hussain
MA MIGRATION AND DIASPORA STUDIES, SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
I am a policy and advocacy professional with five years' experience influencing public policy, parliamentary engagement and strategic campaigns. I have worked across the charity sector, helping shape policy responses to some of the UK's most pressing social issues. As Advocacy Officer at Refugee and Migrant Justice, I work at the intersection of frontline casework and national policy, leading campaigns, contributing to parliamentary inquiries, representing the organisation in national media, and using evidence from lived experience to advocate for a fairer immigration system.
Through the MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies at SOAS, I hope to deepen my expertise in migration policy, strengthening my ability to challenge divisive rhetoric, advance justice for migrant and Muslim communities, and mentor the next generation of young women pursuing careers in policy and advocacy.
