MA GLOBAL MEDIA AND DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS, SOAS UNIVERSITY LONDON

During my undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology with International History at LSE, I studied how the non-Western is as crucial, diverse, and dynamic an element of humanity as the Western, but this remains largely absent in mainstream media. Dominant narratives are shaped by the powerful - therefore I realised the urgent need for communities to tell their own stories.

The MA Global Media and Digital Communications at SOAS addresses ethnocentrism, exploring underrepresented communities through unique perspectives such as gender, through political protest, and diaspora, through media networks.

My career aspiration is to use journalism as a tool for decolonisation, portraying the politics and culture of South Asia and the Middle East from a humanising perspective. Through SOAS’ critical media approach, I aim to become a journalist who illuminates how we can see the world in a radically different manner and imagine better futures for all.
