Muminah Koleoso

I’m a Yoruba, Nigerian-British Muslim, multi-award-winning creative, youth and women’s rights advocate. A Computer Science & Maths graduate from the University of Edinburgh, I pivoted into a career spanning arts, media and advocacy, using storytelling to amplify the voices of Black Muslim women. This mission inspired me to found and host Sister Station, a podcast reaching over 48 countries. I’ve written for Black Ballad, Friday Magazine, The Scotsman and a Black British Book Festival anthology, performed poetry nationwide, and led writing workshops for several organisations. I’m also a member of Scotland's Young Women's Movement, Community Coordinator for the youth-led charity My Life My Say, and an alumna of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Young Muslim Leadership Programme.

I’m looking forward to studying an online Creative Writing MA at the University of Exeter to achieve my dream of becoming a published author and building a sustainable creative career sharing my skills and expertise with others. I hope to continue using my words to create meaningful impact, contributing to authentic and nuanced representation of Muslims in media and literature.
