The Bartlett Promise supported by the Aziz Foundation
The Aziz Foundation is pleased to announce that it is offering up to three master’s scholarships at The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment for the 2024-25 academic year.
Working in partnership with The Bartlett Promise, the Aziz Foundation will be offering up to three scholarships to exceptional students who are active in British Muslim communities and keen to build bridges with all parts of British society. Prospective applicants will have the commitment and ability to support and represent Muslim communities in wider society, as well as the credibility to translate learning experiences for a community context. They will also be keen to create mutual understanding between communities and contribute to the creation of a more cohesive society.
The scholarships encompass a wide array of postgraduate courses at The Bartlett and fully covers tuition fees in addition to offering a living stipend of £15,364.
Application Process
Step 1 – Apply to the University
Candidates must make an application to one of The Bartlett Schools to study a master’s programme and secure a conditional or unconditional offer. You must receive admission by 31 May 2024.
Step 2 – Complete The Bartlett Promise Application Form
After receiving an offer, you can apply for The Bartlett Promise scholarship on The Bartlett website. You must complete your application by 31 May 2024 at 23:45BST. Applications for the Bartlett Promise Master’s Scholarships will open on 1 March 2024. To be eligible for the Bartlett Promise scholarships supported by Aziz Foundation, please ensure you fill out questions 26 & 28 in the application form. These will provide you with the opportunity to detail your engagement and contribution to British Muslim communities.
Step 3 – Attend the Windsor Fellowship dialogue
As part of the application process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to engage in a one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship to discuss anything else which you feel might support your application. This will not include describing or detailing your academic abilities. A representative of the Aziz Foundation will participate in the dialogue. The dialogues will be conducted electronically via an appropriate method agreed between the Windsor Fellowship and the applicant e.g. telephone, Zoom etc. They will be scheduled by the Windsor Fellowship between 14 – 28 June 2024.
The selection panel will assess your application based on information provided on your scholarship application form and the information you provide in your one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship. The assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria. A representative of the Aziz Foundation will participate in the selection process.

Criteria
Applicants should meet all of the following requirements:
- Be UK domiciled with home fee status or be a forced migrant (as defined by UCL)
- Have an offer of admission to an eligible Bartlett Master’s programme in 2024/25
- Identify as a British Muslim and/or
- Work to support British Muslim communities
- Must not have completed a master’s at UCL or anywhere else previously.
- In addition to these mandatory criteria, candidates must meet at least one of the additional criteria:
- be in financial need as assessed by UCL
- be from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background
- be from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community
- have a disability
- be a care leaver
- have care responsibilities
- be first generation in family to attend university at undergraduate level;
- be first generation in family to attend university at postgraduate level
