Preferred Partners in Focus: university of birmingham

The University of Birmingham is a leader in the area of Widening Participation at the postgraduate level, and its pioneering work to enhance access is well established. It is also one the largest recruiters of UK postgraduate taught students in the Russell Group.

The University of Birmingham is proud to offer 50 Postgraduate Access scholarships each year worth £4,000 each to enhance the accessibility of postgraduate study for students from widening participation backgrounds.

Founded as the first civic university in the UK in 1900, the University of Birmingham has a long and rich history of welcoming and supporting students from diverse backgrounds. To continue this legacy, these scholarships help alleviate the barriers restricting students from under-represented backgrounds in pursuing postgraduate study. The financial support is complimented by a range of developmental opportunities and support to ensure students are supported throughout all stages of their studies at Birmingham.

Birmingham also launched a groundbreaking scholarship initiative designed to empower and support Black British researchers in their pursuit of doctoral education. These newly established 3.5-year scholarships aim to address under-representation and create opportunities for talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to excel in academia.
