Preferred Partner University of Manchester is one of the Aziz Foundation's preferred partners. They share our core values and actively promote Widening Participation at the postgraduate level.

Preferred Partners in Focus: the university of manchester

The University of Manchester is one of the most access friendly institutions in the UK. It is ranked forth in the Russell Group for access for students from low participation neighbourhoods, and one in four of its student population come from a widening participation background. At the PGT level, it offers around 100 Masters bursaries to disadvantaged students every year.

The importance it attaches to outreach work is indicated by its Civil Agreement with the Mayor of Greater Manchester, committing the university with four others in the City to address regional inequalities.

Its current Access and Participation Plan (2021-25) identifies the intersectionality of disadvantage as a critical issue, which has lead to initiatives such as the Student Experience Internships, providing opportunities for students to shape their learning environment. The University also has a very proactive Muslim Chaplin, who is plugged into the all the major decision making processes around EDI.
