Preferred Partners in Focus: Wolfson college
Wolfson College is widely recognised for its inclusive and diverse community. Currently, its student body represents 96 different countries, with 40% identifying as Black, Asian, or from other Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
In collaboration with the Cambridge Trust, Wolfson has partnered to support a scholar from a Bangladeshi British or Black British background through the ‘Get In Cambridge’ program. Additionally, Wolfson support ‘Rowan Williams’ scholars who have experienced educational disruptions due to conflict or forced displacement from countries such as Syria, Iran, and Nigeria.
The commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to the leadership of Wolfson, with President Jane Clarke leading a college-wide program titled ‘Let’s Talk about Race & Racism’. The college actively seeks to recruit fellows and staff from underrepresented groups in Cambridge, offering students a diverse range of mentors and role models to inspire academic excellence.
Recently, a group of students and fellows initiated the Interdisciplinary Research Hub on Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage (REACH). Through this hub, Wolfson College aims to promote research on the experiences, history, and culture of groups that have been underrepresented in academic studies.
If you are a current offer holder at Cambridge University for 2024 (of any college), you can apply for the Aziz Foundation Scholarships until noon on June 30th, 2024. If your application is successful, you will transfer to Wolfson College.
