Aisha Tahliil
MA CREATIVE WRITING, UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM
I am a writer, contemporary artist and podcast host of ‘This Stays Between Us’, where I foreground the stories of South Asian, Muslim women. I am known for my hit episode 'Let Their Words Be Air', centred on empowering young women to let go of criticism and conquer their dreams.
Based in Birmingham, my stories and artwork is focused on South Asian femininity. I commonly use the motif of a pomegranate to explore the liminal space between childhood and womanhood. Previously, I completed an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and developed my leadership skills when working as an engineer for GSK.
However, in 2026, I decided to lean into my storytelling skills and invest my time in exploring my creativity. To enable this, I am actively engaging in artistic practice at the Midlands Art Centre while also pursuing my MA in Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham, with the intention of uplifting the widely misunderstood British Muslim community, and to shine a light on the beautiful stories within.
